Portrait of Akhilesh

Travel Consultant | Naturalist | Anthropologist

Akhilesh Bharos

LinkedIn

Akhilesh’s deep connection to the natural world is a living continuation of a four-generation legacy in wildlife conservation. Born and raised amidst the biodiverse landscapes of Central India’s Satpura and Vindhyachal ranges, his immersion in the wilderness began long before his formal career in ecotourism, with his work in the field initiated in 1996.

For nearly three decades, Akhilesh has travelled extensively across the landscapes of Central India, dedicating himself to documenting, protecting, and interpreting its complex ecosystems. His work bridges wildlife conservation with the empowerment of local communities, while bringing to light the rich cultural heritage and indigenous wisdom that sustain these landscapes. Over the years, the Kanha landscape has become a second home, shaped by an enduring familiarity with its forests, wildlife, and communities.

An acclaimed photographer, naturalist, and observer of nature, Akhilesh has contributed to research papers and publications and has authored two insightful books capturing the spirit of India’s wild spaces and the people who call them home. Through his guided experiences, visual storytelling, research, and writing, he offers travellers an authentic, deeply rooted perspective on the delicate balance between human heritage and the natural world.
