January | February | July | August | September

9 Nights & 10 Days

This comprehensive safari journey across Uganda, the "Pearl of Africa," delivers an unparalleled blend of classic Big Game viewing and the world's most intimate primate tracking experiences. The adventure begins near Entebbe, the country's gateway, before diving into the diverse ecosystems of the west.

The profound highlight of the trip is the trek into the misty, ancient slopes of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a life-changing encounter with the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Following this, the journey immerses you in the "Primate Capital of the World," Kibale Forest National Park, where you will track and observe families of chimpanzees in their dense, emerald home.

Transitioning to open savanna, the itinerary explores two of Uganda's greatest wildlife reserves. Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) offers superb game drives and a phenomenal boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a waterway teeming with hippos, crocodiles, and vast birdlife, along with the chance to spot the rare tree-climbing lions.

Finally, Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP) showcases the raw power of the Nile River, as it explodes through a narrow gorge to form the magnificent Murchison Falls. Here, classic game drives across the savanna are complemented by a boat safari to the base of this thundering natural wonder, rounding out a truly holistic and unforgettable African wildlife experience.

The Itinerary

Day 1: Murchison Falls
  • Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representatives will pick you up and transfer to Murchison Falls. The route takes us through numerous villages in Uganda’s countryside, adorned with lush greenery and bustling roadside fruit and vegetable markets. Our first stop will be the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino trek. The duration of the trek can range from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the location of the rhinos within the sanctuary. You'll receive a briefing from the ranger guide before embarking on your rhino walk in the reserve. This sanctuary is dedicated to breeding rhinos for reintroduction into National Parks where they have become extinct due to poaching in the 1970s and 1980s. We will have lunch either at the Rhino Sanctuary or in a restaurant in Masindi town. After that, we will proceed with our journey to Murchison Falls National Park with another stop at the top of the mighty falls. We will thereafter continue to our place of stay and enjoy a leisurely evening to unwind.

Day 2: Murchison Falls
  • Start with a morning breakfast before heading out for a Delta boat ride, approx. 5 hours to and from. This is in search of aquatic birds and animals coming down to drink at the river bank. Return for lunch and in the afternoon, we take a game drive along the northern bank of the Nile. During this drive, we search for wildlife such as buffalo, lions, elephants, spotted hyenas, Bohor reedbucks, Rothschild giraffes, kobs, hartebeests, oribi, bushbucks, and more. With a bit of luck, we might even spot a leopard.

Day 3: Fort Portal
  • On this day, we will drive to Fort Portal, taking in the breathtaking landscape of the Albertine Western Rift Valley. Along the way, we will make several stopovers to stretch and enjoy sightseeing as we pass through the lush countryside, including tea and banana plantations. We will have lunch en-route at Seyeya Courts, followed by a coffee stop in Fort Portal Town. Additionally, there is an optional visit to Mpanga Market in Fort Portal before we arrive at our lodge near Kibale Forest for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Western Uganda
  • Early in the morning, we make our way into the jungle to search for Chimpanzees. Watching our closest relatives in their natural habitat in Kibale Forest is a fantastic experience. We will have our lunch and thereafter, we have a possibility to go on 3 hours walk into Bigodi Swamp. It is one of the best places to see the great blue Turaco. We also have a chance to search for the butterflies and a variety of other primates e.g. baboons, grey cheeked mangabey, black & white colobus, red colobus, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys etc. Another option could be a visit to the Bigodi community to see the way of life. E.g. how to locally brew coffee, weaving with local material, beer brewing e.t.c. The activities last between 2 to 3 hours before you return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth NP
  • In the morning, we leave Kibale Forest National Park and drive a long Rwenzori Mountain towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. As we reach the park boundaries, we may see some animals along the way. Lunch will be at Mweya Safari Lodge and in the afternoon, we enjoy a unique 2-hour cruise on the Kazinga Channel to Lake Edward. This cruise offers excellent opportunities for a variety of big game and bird watching. On our way back to the lodge, we shall do a short game drive in the park in search of more wildlife.

Day 6: Bwindi
  • We leave the lodge in the morning and drive to Bwindi Impenetrabel National Park either through the Ishasha sector or via Ishaka to go to the Southern part of Bwindi.

Day 7: Bwindi
  • After breakfast, transfer for the morning briefing before enjoying the highlight of the trip: Gorilla tracking, which may last the entire day. We trek through the rainforest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by a guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family.

Day 8: Mburo National Park
  • Breakfast and leave for Lake Mburo National Park which is located on the way back to Kampala arriving at the Camp in time for lunch. In the Park, we can do an afternoon game drive and there’s an opportunity to discover the largest antelopes such as the elands, Giraffes and zebras. In Uganda, the Zebras can only be found here and in Kidepo National Park.

Day 9: Entebbe
  • Early morning, we go for a walk; there are a variety of walks both inside and outside the park, reaching nearby hilltops. Walks are typically around 2 to 3 hours long and accompanied by a guide. Return for breakfast at the camp and we leave the camp and drive towards Kampala. This ride takes us back across the equator, where we should take the opportunity to shoot a souvenir photo and enjoy lunch. Arrive in Entebbe and stay a night at Via Via Guesthouse.

Day 9: End Trip
  • Enjoy breakfast at your guesthouse before taking a motorized boat across Lake Victoria to the extensive Mabamba Swamp, a prime location for spotting the rare Shoebill Stork wading through the overgrown papyrus, alongside a wide variety of other water birds that inhabit the marshland's interwoven channels. Afterward, we will return for a hot lunch at the popular Faze 3 restaurant before a transfer to the airport for your departure flight, though if time permits before your flight, you'll have the option to visit the Entebbe Botanical Garden in search of more birds and monkeys.
